Diamond cutters

Most of the world’s precious metals and gemstones are mined and processed in horrendous working conditions by people who are paid wages that are inadequate for even the most basic standard of living. Worldwide, about a million child labourers are exploited within this industry. We believe that this is unacceptable.

We require that our suppliers respect all basic human rights outlined in international conventions and law; that they maintain good working conditions, pay fair wages, and do not use child labour; that their operations are not located in areas of armed conflict; that they obtain the free, prior, and informed consent of affected communities before commencing such operations; and that their operations do not force communities off their lands. These ethical standards require that we can trace our supplies back to source. This is the only way to know where and and under what conditions they have been produced.

We are firm believers in the principles of fair trade. We offer both certified Fairtrade & Fairmined gold and platinum, and pre-certified fair trade coloured gemstones. Unfortunately, there are no reliable sources of fair trade diamonds at this time. Until this changes, we will continue to work exclusively with suppliers who meet our strict standards in order to offer the most ethical diamonds available anywhere.
