Channel Setting

Channel setting can be used to arrange a number of smaller diamonds in a line. It creates a sleek, elegant appearance, with each of the diamonds being set in a channel recessed into the precious metal. Channel setting also protects diamonds very well, as there are no exposed edges.
Channel set round diamonds sparkle beautifully, but have small gaps visible above and below the point at which two adjacent diamonds touch. If you want to avoid having these gaps, it is possible to channel set small rectangular or square cut stones, such as baguette cut diamonds or princess cut diamonds.
Channel setting is particularly popular for diamond wedding rings and eternity rings, and is also used to add extra sparkle to engagement rings.
