Emerald Cut Diamond Engagement Rings

Emerald cut diamond rings are the third most popular type of engagement ring, after round brilliant and princess cuts.
Emerald cut diamonds are rectangular when viewed from above, but with their corners cut away. Emerald cut diamonds have flat rectangular facets stepping down off the table facet (the top of the diamond) which gives them their unique optical appearance. As the name suggests, the emerald cut was actually developed for use with emeralds before it was applied to diamonds.
Emerald cut diamonds have a particularly large table facet, which does means that larger inclusions are more likely to be visible to the naked eye. Colour also tends to show very clearly in emerald cut diamonds. As with all diamonds, we strongly recommend that you view them in person so that you can make your own assessment.
The classic emerald cut diamond is about 1½ times longer than it is wide, however, as with all these things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and you may prefer a squarer shape, or a longer, thinner rectangle. Indeed, a square shaped emerald cut has its own name: the asscher cut.
