Are there any other problems with diamonds?

Yes. There is widespread exploitation of the people who mine, cut and polish diamonds.

Small-scale artisanal miners are often receive only a fraction of the local market value of their gemstones, as traders and exporters collude to rip them off.

A high proportion of diamonds are then cut and polished in sweatshops, where child labour is common and wages are inadequate for even the most basic standard of living.
