Our rubies, sapphires and smaller white diamonds are mined in Madagascar, Tanzania and Lesotho respectively by small-scale cooperatives. This means the wealth generated by mining is directly retained by the local communities.
These gemstones are then cut and polished at the Surat Diamond Workers Cooperative in Gujarat, India. Here, wages are calculated on fairtrade principles, and employees are entitled to paid holiday, sick leave, and maternity leave.
Our larger white diamonds are premium gems from Nenoir. These are mined in Canada under strict regulations imposed by the government of the Northwest Territories, and are cut and polished according to guidelines established by the Council for Responsible Jewellery Practices. Each one is then engraved with a unique CanadaMark™ inscription on its girdle, allowing us to trace its provenance, and to guarantee our client that they are the First Private Owner™.
Our cultured diamonds, available in pink and yellow, are created in the US and cut in South Africa. These are real diamonds, chemically and physically identical to mined diamonds, but grown in a laboratory. Because they are difficult to create, they remain more scarce than mined diamonds.
