Diamonds & Gemstones

Our rubies and sapphires are mined in Madagascar and Tanzania respectively by small-scale cooperatives. This means the wealth generated by mining is directly retained by the local communities.

These gemstones are then cut and polished at the Surat Diamond Workers Cooperative in Gujarat, India. Here, wages are calculated on fairtrade principles, and employees are entitled to paid holiday, sick leave, and maternity leave.

Our white diamonds are mined in Canada under strict regulations imposed by the government of the Northwest Territories, and are cut and polished according to guidelines established by the Council for Responsible Jewellery Practices. They are fully traceable, and the larger stones are laser-inscribed.

Our fancy coloured diamonds, available in pink and yellow, are created in the US and cut in South Africa. These are real diamonds, chemically and physically identical to mined diamonds, but grown in a laboratory. Because they are difficult to create, they remain more scarce than mined diamonds.
