Oval Cut Diamond Engagement Rings

Oval cut diamonds have an elongated brilliant cut, a shape which lends itself well to a variety of styles of engagement rings. Being brilliant cut, the faceting of oval cut diamonds is designed to optimise the natural life (sparkle), fire (refraction) and brilliance (reflection) of the diamond.

Traditionally, the ideal proportions for an oval cut diamond are generally considered to be when the length of the diamond is roughly 1½ times its width. However, different proportions will suit different engagement ring designs, and in any event, ideal proportions are to a large degree a matter of personal preference. As with marquise and pear cut diamonds, longer slimmer cuts may flatter the hand by making fingers appear longer and more slender. Whichever proportions you prefer, you should always look for good symmetry, and as with all diamonds, we strongly recommend that you view them in person so that you can make your own assessment.
