Rose gold used to be an unusual choice for engagement rings, but has become increasingly popular in recent years. To make a rose gold ring, we start with pure 24ct Fairtrade gold. This is bright yellow and very soft. We then alloy it with copper to make it more durable, and to change its colour. At a purity of 18ct, rose gold is made up of 25% copper alloy and 75% gold. This gives it a soft, salmon-pink colour. If you are looking for a more intense red colour, you might consider 9ct rose gold, which contains more than 60% copper.
Rose gold is a warm shade, which means it works really well with peach, orange and brown gemstones, often sapphires. It can also look fantastic set with diamonds. It works well against most skin tones.
At Ingle & Rhode, we have a collection of engagement rings made from Fairtrade 18ct rose gold available to buy now. We also specialise in making bespoke engagement rings. All our rings are designed and made entirely in the UK. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
